One small tip for a Happy Marriage

  • Posted on May 2, 2007 at 12:50 pm

I have been married for 22, almost 23 years. I would like to pass along a tip that has helped keep us together.

I learned a very long time ago that as much as my husband loves me and SHOULD know me enough to be able pick out great gifts for me, he simply cannot. He is totally freaking clueless as to what makes a thoughtful and appropriate birthday and holiday gift for me — the mother of his children, his lifetime helpmate who is always at his side.

Pet Peeve – Nothing Like Morning Breath

  • Posted on April 1, 2007 at 2:30 pm

One of my biggest pet peeves is when a romance characters sleep together then immediately wake up and make morning nookie. It is not the morning nookie that I object to, it is the morning breath I just know they have. EEEWWWW….

So the Donald on Apprentice is challenging his group to market a new mouthwash that eliminates morning breath. From now on I will pretend that the characters have used Smartmouth before going to bed the night before.

Wonder if it works, cause I hate that skanky morning breath.

Shame on Ballantine Books – A very short rant.

  • Posted on February 6, 2007 at 4:38 pm

I noticed Laurell K. Hamilton has her new book listed on Amazon today. For those of you who love to hate her. . . . .

TA – DA, another freaking 224 page hardback. Shame on her and Ballantine Books/Randomhouse. This trend towards expensive novellas really sucks. Inflation is one thing, greediness is another.

Mistral’s Kiss-Laurell K. Hamilton

Laurell K. Hamilton

Ballantine books – you are shitting me right????. You are charging $20 for a 220 page hardback??? The publisher and author is raking us over the coals and we can’t even protest with a decent book burning. Lighting a whole stack of Mistral’s Kisses would not even produce enough heat to warm my cramped office. No satisfying woosh of flame, just a small smoldering pile of crap…. Oh well on to better books.

Cheap Bindings Suck.

  • Posted on August 15, 2006 at 10:46 pm

Is it just me or are new books getting cheaper and shoddier made? I have two new Avon/Harper books that are starting to come apart and I doubt they will last more than very few readings. Is this a case of saving money by the publisher or some conspiracy to wipe out used books sales?

The two books that are falling apart are: Lynsay Sands, A Bite To Remember and Lisa Kleypas’s Scandal in Spring. Both are by Avon/Harper. I sent an email to Harper when I first noticed this on Lynsay Sands books, but I assumed it may have been a fluke, but to have the same thing happen again a month later with another new book just plain sucks…..

Wildcat Arrows – Dara Joy (Did you get yours yet?)

  • Posted on June 26, 2006 at 12:28 am

I currently have 4 Dara Joy books on my keeper shelf. The Matrix of Destiny series was a long time favorite. It was with great excitement that I ordered Dara’s self published Wildcat Arrows book last year when it was announced. I forked over the $20.80 even with the freaked out cover. I loved Dara and expected no less from this book – even with the freaked out cover.
