Tempting Evil (Riley Jensen-3) – Keri Arthur

The third in one of my fav kick-ass series, Tempting evil is even better than Kissing Sin. Riley has advanced her training and is making her way up to a full guardian. She is not happy about this, but knows she has not moral choice in the matter.

Having found the compound of past nemesis Deshon Star through an inside connection, Riley prepares to go undercover as a female wrestler to gain access to the compound and eliminate Deshon and end his genetic experiments. Ok, so that sounds like a cheesy plot and perhaps it is, but Arthur has a way of building a complex world while weaving in erotic sex and interesting plots. I could not put this one down.

As usual, Quinn her past vampire lover finds out about her plot and infiltrates the compound also. Quinn has a vendetta to settle with Deshon.

Kade the horse shifter is back as well as the addition of a group of new woman shifters who are not what they appear to be. It seems Deshon has racked up lots of enemies along the way.

As with the past books there is lots of unapologetic sex and rich content. My one criticism was the final confrontation lacked much substance in regard to the evil Starr.

Riley Jenkins is half vampire and half wolf. She and her twin brother Rhoan live in Melbourne and are working with an organization of supernatural beings called the Directorate. Riley has been resisting becoming a full Guardian, but Jack, her vampire boss, has other plans for her.

In the second book of the series we find Riley captured in a breeding facility to create master races of mixed DNA super beings…. Back are the past characters of Quinn, Rhoan, Jack, Gualtier. The plot turns are really quick and rich and the new characters are fascinating. Of course Riley adds another lover to her mix, but it seems to add to the story. The sex is abundant, but it seems to fit in with the story instead of becoming the story. I have to say that some of her sex lines are just plain cheezy, as the newest lover Kade is a horse shifter and Arthur could not resist the “hung like” line…. (groan…..). Otherwise the world building was imaginative and fresh. Old lovers prove to be more than meets the eye and Riley becomes manipulated and injected with a experimental drug that has long term implications upon her future. Love this new series…

Rhoan goes missing and a drop dead sexy vampire (Quinn) shows up naked at her doorstop. About to approach the monthly “moonfever” that turns the werewolf into a hunk of burning lust, Riley tries to avoid giving in her to tempation to Quinn. But even with several other lovers on her plate, she cannot resist him. Quinn could be the key to finding her brother so she reluctantly teams up with Quinn and asks Jack for help.

There are lots of interesting twists and turns, tons of unapologetic, guilt free sex.

I have to say however, the story ending left me hanging and now I have to run out and get the next one in the series. I have way too many TBR’s here already…

Grade: A-

When I received this Black Lace book to review I was not really looking forward to reading it. It deals with domination and submission featuring erotic humiliation. Humiliation is the biggest possible turnoff I can think of. Having tried to read Anne Rice’s Beauty Series, I concluded that humiliation is just not my bent.

However in the hands of this skilled author, I encountered an interesting peek into the mind of those who dwell in a different world than my own. Sex is really just sex; it is the psychology and feelings behind the act that provide the interest to me. Martel is able to provide a complex psychological view of Kirsten the lead female Dom and Simon Charlesworth the Sub using their own unique voices.

Simon Charlesworth, a 53 year old high level political figure has a chance meeting with a beautiful sexy woman in a bar. The woman, Kirsten Caine has been giving him come on signals all night and he decides that she would be a great diversion from his career and married life. Little does he know that he is being swept not into a vanilla affair but into a deviant culture that is beyond anything he has ever encountered. Kirsten does unspeakable things to his body and mind, yet he is fascinated beyond his understanding. This fascination leads to his ultimate downfall when Kirsten discovers his involvement in a political issue that is close to her. She in my opinion pulls a boiled bunny and violates the trust formed by their deviant relationship. But was his fall from grace at the hands of this skilled, potential psycho a disaster or blessing?

I can say I am still not into the whole dom/sub scene, but with this wonderfully written book I was entertained and highly enlightened. This is a very deep book (and I am not referring to penetration).

Sins and Secrets – P.F. Kozak

Historical erotica with a love story and a twist. Pamela Kingston is a young heiress just returning from boarding school. Peter Rennard is a barrister whom has been left as Pamela’s guardian by her father. In respect to her fathers wishes that he take care of her, and to fight his inappropriate feelings; Peter has kept Pamela at a distance for years. As a grown passionate woman, Pamela has always loved Peter and decides to force him to see the truth.

This story was refreshing in a few ways. First off Pamela is still a virgin, but not one of your typical clueless regency heroines. She has been reading about sex from a series of magazines called “The Pearl”. She is also not afraid to go after what she wants.

In an interesting concept, this book has a “pick your own” story line where you can choose to follow different paths. For example here are a few choices:

Nellie is dominant, continue reading
Peter is dominant, turn to page 11

Pamel pleasures Jack, continue reading
Jack pleasures Pamela, turn to page 74

Rounding out the story are a cast of supporting characters with the randy hired help of Jack and Lucy, May the cook/surrogate mother to Pamela and Nellie the brothel owner/mistress.

The sex was abundant and varied. I however got a bit annoyed because “cunny” and “bubbies” were constantly used, mostly when playing with the “hired help”.

Though not heavy into any one sexual area this book lightly touched on dominance, masturbation, spanking and voyeurism. I am going to rate this as a B- for originality and for having a semblance of a love plot to go along with healthy dose of raw sex.

Double Jeopardy, Strength in Numbers – Rachel Bo

Sutter Campbell and Josh Reed are two hot and popular college guys who have had a unique mental connection since they were young friends. When they first meet Kendal Aaronson in her shop, they feel that she shares their connection and proceeds to convince her that they are all soul-mates. Add in a rich meddling father who cannot abide with Sutters friendship with Josh and you have an interesting storyline.

I very much enjoyed the sizzling storyline that also included lots of emotion the many erotic books don’t bother with. I rate this as a B because as with most Elloras cave books it was not long enough to develop the characters/storyline as I prefer.

There is some male/male interaction so be warned if that sqeeks you out. If you enjoy some hot male/male exploration in a loving relationship this is a great read. Also there is an age difference between Kendal and the boys, but since she is still younger then me I say you go girl.

The cover is really pretty good as far as erotic covers go. I have a thing for duotone covers.

Triple Play-Rhyannon Byrd

Jonah has decided to shake up his brooding friend Gabriel by bringing their assistant Denny (Denise) Abbott to him as a birthday present. Gabriel has been secretly lusting after Denny for a long time and the feeling is definately mutual. Jonah shakes up Gabriel with his “present” and things between the three will never be the same.

This Ellora’s Cave book is primarily a detailed accounting of a nonstop one night sexfest between two male friends and an assistant in their office. There were some other slight plot items interspersed throughout the book but I mainly skipped over them as they were very short and could not be developed properly.

I don’t really like short stories and prefer more plot development in my books, but occasionally treat myself with an Ellora’s cave story for a guilty pleasure.

Grade: C

Cover: More classy than some of the Ellora’s cave covers I have seen. I despise the computer generated covers and appreciate this one.

A few years ago my husband picked up one of my romance books read a few pages, looked my straight in the eye with this funny look on his face and said this is chick porn…. We then got into the debate of whether it was porn or not.

I don’t have to explain that men and women are wired differently. Just take a trip to your local adult video rental place and see the shelves and shelves of adult videos. 99.9% of them are geared towards a mans taste. Series upon series of videos with quick sex, – slam, bam, thank you ma’am. For the most part they seem to be missing the elements that are turn on for women. We like romance, attention and actual foreplay. They say that women like to read and fantasize about romantic sex and men like to watch. I am not sure that is totally true. I don’t think women like to watch your typical adult video featuring the goofy looking hairy assed guy and the silcone enhanced, anorexic used looking women who detachedly pound away at each other and grunt in the requisite places. I think the reason that it seems that women like romance books better is because in them women are usually made to feel desirable with the proper attention paid to their needs and emotions. You don’t find many adult videos with foreplay let alone focusing on women. But recently a friend brought an adult video to my attention that is truly hot and clearly geared for women.

Snapshot by Inpulse Pictures is an adult video that was released in March of 2006. It features three really hot scenes with really hot guys (not a hairy, pimple butt in sight). Ok there is no plot other than men posing for a womens magazine who seduce the women around them, but there is sexy foreplay, kissing, and some really hot sex.

Scene one has hunk #1 getting his photo taken. He proceeds to attract the attention of a stage hand whom he proceeds to seduce. Very, very hot.

Scene two has hunk #2 and hunk #3 seducing another stage hand. Again very sexy. If you like male/female/male this is it…

Scene three has hunk #4 finally seducing the photographer and wow…..

The men are hot, the girls do not seem to be surgically enhanced and most of the camera action is focused on the hot guys. One minor annoyance is that the facial expressions of hunk #4 were a bit over the top, but his body was hot so we can forgive him.

If more films are made this way, you may see a major increase in women claiming to enjoy “watching”.

My opinion: Really hot. I would say that this book even sort-of kind-of included a story along with the hot sex. I read somewhere that having two loving men is a huge housewife’s fantasy. In addition to the two hot bodes, I think women also want love and devotion to go along with the packages. The sex scenes were good but towards the end seemed to fade to black…

Not a realistic read, but I doubt anyone is reading Ellora’s cave for mental enlightment.

I would like to trade this for a similar Ellora’s cave title.

Having read and loved the book Menage from Emma Holly I run across a review for this ebook and thought they might be similar.

Never having purchased or read an e-book I was a e-book virgin. I purchased this as a pdf file and printed it out. I spend so much freaking time on the computer, I didn’t want to spend my wind down time in front of it too. I really think I prefer real books even though I am a electronic junkie…..

On to the story. All I can is HHHHOOOOTTTT. Widow Cassandra has secretly been in love with her brother in law Aiden for many years but her long abstaince from physical contact and sex (without a partner) has her ready to explode. She has always been sexually repressed but Aiden inspires her.

Aiden has always been attracted to Cassandra but he enjoys “darker sex” and does not want to scare her away.

In this story love and caring have come first. When Cassandra and Aiden do finally get together the fireworks fly. Lots of erotic hot graphic sex as Cassandra explores within the safety of a loving partner. But that is not the end of our tale…. Along comes Aiden’s best friend, Travis who has shared most of Aiden’s life. When Cassandra is given the task to spice up her romantic novels (did I forgot to mention she is a writer) she wonders what it would be like to experience a common “housewives” fantasy — a threesome. Cassandra gets her wish and so so much more. All three parties are suprised at the depth their relationship takes.

I am not sure why this type story appeals to me but I am a sucker for love along with sex. There is some Male/Male action here so be forewarned. I find myself wondering how great it would be to have two hunky guys who want nothing more than to please and thoughly love me. Wow the sexual positions could be numerous. But then you would have to fight about leaving the toliet seat up x 2…. I think one is probably enough……
