Coming Undone - Susan Andersen0

Andersen never fails to deliver a fun and quick read. Coming Undone is no exception.

If you have read Andersen’s previous book - Hot and Bothered, you were introduced to a teenaged Jared who was on the run suspected of killing his father. Along the way this troubled teen is adopted by 13 year old PJ. PJ is also living on the streets after her loser of a mom kicks her out.

Never Lie to a Lady - Liz Carlyle2

Part of a new trilogy, this was a decent historical romance. I liked both characters. Lord Stephan Nash is your typical gambling rake who will never get married, Miss Xanthia is a more mature (on the shelf as they say) heroine who runs her families shipping company. Both have troubled backgrounds and strong feelings as well as sensual natures. They are thrown together in intrique and grow to deeply love each other. Of course Xanthia inadvertly betrays Nash’s love and the two of them are left heartsick. Never fear though this is a romance and happy endings abound.

Curveball - Kate Angell2

I am not a fan of short stories and anthologies so I was at first disappointed when I started reading this story and realized that it was a compliation of three couples. However that disappointed soon faded. The story is laid out with a chapter or two focusing on one couple, then switches to another for a chapter or two. This style kept me reading late into the night because I wanted to know how things were progressing. I still would have prefered each couple get a more involved story, but this was a fun series of quickies.

Magic Study - Maria V. Snyder2

Magic Study is the second in Snyders Fantasy series. As with the first in the series, Poison Study, I listed to the audiobook from audible.com. I am on a new fitness kick and enjoy listening to audio books while sweating and huffing on the elipical trainer. (I know not a pretty picture).

Back to the story. Having found her true family in the first story, Yelena Zaltana is headed home to control and learn more about her Magic. Meeting up with her clan and immediate family produces mixed results as she uncovers what happened to her as a child.

All Together Dead - Charlaine Harris4

I love this series and had no trouble pulling an all nighter to finish number 7 in the series. However I am unsure if an all nighter was very wise. My poor sleep deprived brain is left with the feeling that I really missed some things or that I am not very good at connecting point A to point B to resolution.

There is a whole LOT happenin between these pages and I am not going to go into a synoposis of the story because I still think I am lost in the middle. I know how it started, and I know how it ended, but how did we get there? If you have not read any Sookies books, don’t start here.

Ghost Hunter - Jayne Castle1

Elly St. Clair is the daughter of a guild (mob) family and has been engaged to the Guild boss, Cooper Boone. As typically done in romance, Elly wants more than a business arrangement match and calls off the engagement when Cooper is clueless and in attentive to her.

I liked this story because Cooper is truly a clueless male. As I am married to one it is interesting to see that my hubby is not the only one to say something stupid and really not understand the significance of what he said. Sometimes men are just so dumb. So anyway, Elly moves away and starts her own business in another town. Cooper gives her six months to “calm down” and plans to show up and have her fall into his arms (stupid male).

Jade Tiger - Jenn Reese0

Many months ago I started reading this book while waiting for my DH to have some minor outpatient surgery. At the time I didn’t think I was very impressed with the book so I put it aside and forgot about it.. The other day I was cleaning up the piles of to be read books in my bedroom and I ran across it. What struck my immediately was that I remembered exactly what the story was about. I don’t know about you, but I often forget the details of a book after I read it. You know when you look at a book and wonder if it was the Pirate or the Outlaw and did I like this story? Realizing that is rare for me to remember so many details about a book, I also realized that I must give it another chance and finish it. I am glad I did and I guess I was just not in a reading frame of mind when I started it.

Chasing Stanley-Deirdre Martin0

Chasing Stanley

Cute, funny and quick. I enjoyed this new offering from Deirdre Martin. Sports romances are always fun because the egos of the athletic male are portrayed with a large dose of testostrone and no clue on how to deal with a woman (nice girl — that is).

There seems to be a trend in romances of starring BIG dogs. I love Newfoundland dogs and Stanley the Newfie is just so darn likeable.

Motor Mouth-Janet Evanovich0

Motor Mouth Girl

This is undoubtedly the stupidest and most awful storyline filled with juvenilistic humor I have read recently. Yet it really works… Huh, image that. I will sadly admit that this book had me laughing out laugh — I love that in a book.

The second Barnaby novel in my opinion was better than the first, Metro Girl. We got to witness the return of Sam Hooker with a new St. Bernard buddy (Beans), along with Rosa and Felicia. New characters were introduced to round out the goofy cast – Suzanne the widow with a vendetta, thugs Horse (as in hung) and Baldy (as in hair challenged), Spanky the rival driver who keeps ending up with dead bodies in his vehicles and Ray the villain and brother-in-law to Suzanne.

Metro Girl-Janet Evanovich3

Metro Girl

After reading the tastes great and is less filling Evanovich book Plum Lovin’, I was still hungry for some Evanovich so I pulled out Metro Girl out of my to be read pile. I had been putting off reading this because I hate being disappointed when an author carries her existing series into a new character. Sometimes they are too formulaic and just a recycle of the existing character.

the private undoing of a public servant-Leonie Martel3

Leonie Martel

When I received this Black Lace book to review I was not really looking forward to reading it. It deals with domination and submission featuring erotic humiliation. Humiliation is the biggest possible turnoff I can think of. Having tried to read Anne Rice’s Beauty Series, I concluded that humiliation is just not my bent.

However in the hands of this skilled author, I encountered an interesting peek into the mind of those who dwell in a different world than my own. Sex is really just sex; it is the psychology and feelings behind the act that provide the interest to me. Martel is able to provide a complex psychological view of Kirsten the lead female Dom and Simon Charlesworth the Sub using their own unique voices.

McKettrick’s Luck-Linda Lael Miller3

Linda Lael Miller

Occasionally, I crave a sappy western romance and this book was just the item I needed. Following Miller’s previous historical western McKettrick series, this is a new trilogy with contemporary McKettrick alpha males.

Jesse McKettrick is the great great …. grandson of Jeb McKettrick (Secondhand Bride). He is the aimless, pokerplaying, only son badboy. His family has gently urged him to settle down but he just has not found the right woman yet.

Gone With the Nerd - Vicki Lewis Thompson0

Vicki Lewis Thompson

Having just finished Nerd Gone Wild, I pulled this off of my ever growing reading pile. Nerd Gone Wild was ok, but this one is much better because the hero is a true nerd, albeit a trim and well hung one of course.

Nerd Gone Wild - Vicki Lewis Thompson1

Vicki Lewis Thompson, Nerd Gone Wild
Needing a laugh I decided to pull this out of Mount To Be Read. I found it a cute a funny read. Just what I needed. I have to admit I was really disappointed because I was expecting a nerdy hero, but Mithell J. Carruthers is only a nerd in disquise. He was hired by Ally Jarrett’s recently decesed grandmother to protect her new fortune. The nerd routine did have its comedic relief, but darn it I wanted a real nerdy guy.
