As typically done in romance, Elly wants more than a business arrangement match and calls off the engagement when Cooper is clueless and in attentive to her.

I liked this story because Cooper is truly a clueless male. As I am married to one it is interesting to see that my hubby is not the only one to say something stupid and really not understand the significance of what he said. Sometimes men are just so dumb. So anyway, Elly moves away and starts her own business in another town. Cooper gives her six months to “calm down” and plans to show up and have her fall into his arms (stupid male).

Elly has gotten caught up in situation (did I mention this was a paranormal) and needs help to save her friend who has stumbled upon an underground drug lab. Cooper shows up just in time to help with his all so awesome “ghost hunter” talents.

He saves the day and gets a taste of clue cake, winning Elly’s love.

I found the storyline very different and refreshing without a vampire in sight, but I found the ending fell a bit flat. I would still recommend it though.

Grade: B.

  1. I’ve a weakness for her Jayne Castle books – not sure why! They’re pretty much comfort reads for me, you always know what you’re going to get.

She has a new one coming out soon-ish called “Silver Master”.
