At the time I didn’t think I was very impressed with the book so I put it aside and forgot about it.. The other day I was cleaning up the piles of to be read books in my bedroom and I ran across it. What struck my immediately was that I remembered exactly what the story was about. I don’t know about you, but I often forget the details of a book after I read it. You know when you look at a book and wonder if it was the Pirate or the Outlaw and did I like this story? Realizing that is rare for me to remember so many details about a book, I also realized that I must give it another chance and finish it. I am glad I did and I guess I was just not in a reading frame of mind when I started it.

Shan Westfall has been trained in martial arts since her birth. She inherited the job to recover and protect a set of powerful relics of immense importance when her mother was killed during Shan’s early childhood. Now is the time for her step up and gather the relics to keep them away from evil. The hero is in story was a geek professor who had possession of one of the relics. He is not an Alpha hero, but was an incredible rock and balanced out Shan. There is also a cast of secondary characters that added to the tale.

I highly enjoyed Ian Dashell’s character. There is lots of kung fu action (not normally my fav – but it worked) and Shan proves to be one kick ass heroine who could still admit her vulnerabilities.

I give this a B.

I did not really like the cover. Odd tattoo aside, there was the spattered paint treatment that made her skin look like she was diseased. Not sure what the artist was thinking on that one.
