The second in the contemporary Mettrick brothers series following McKettrick's Luck. Rance is a widower and father of two young daughters. He lost his wife five years ago but still harbors a lot of guilt and pain. He is seldom in town as he chooses to work away his troubles and spends a lot of time on business trips. His girls are being partially raised by his ex mother in law Cora Tellington. Though Cora loves her granddaughters deeply she wants to take back her own life and travel. She comes up with the idea to buy a "love charm" over the internet and places it under Rance's truck seat. Little does she know what a small world this is.
Echo Wells has left Chicago to start over life and escape a near miss marriage with a true jerk. She buys the building next to Cora to start a new book store. Echo is a colorful individual who loves pink and just wants to belong in life. Rance wants to avoid life, but they find themselves attracted to each other.
I liked this story because it fast moving and sweet. Lots of deep emotional issues are sometimes just the thing to read. I love the way Miller can bring you into the lives of her characters and feel their emotions.
The cover is ok, I liked it.
