Please excuse the horrible grammer. I am NOT an aspiring writer, nor did I stay at a Holiday Inn last night. I am only a devoted reader.

I loved this book. Intricate and engaging, but for some reason I couldn't get into the second book? The characters are terrific but the backstory/history of the people is a bit much, no?

Angie - I am a huge fan of Jacqueling Carey and the Kushiel trilogy also. I whole heartedly agree on the A rating. Not a book I lend out (I'd hate to part with it!) but I recommend it often.

The art work on her books is amazing too.

Hey Angie!

can I ask you, did you have a hard time to read this book? Cos I have it at home, but when I opened it and see all the way it's written, i wonder a bit... but I'm glad you enjoyed it!

YAY!! Another Kushiel fan-that makes me so happy! Thus the exorbitant amount of exclamation points!!

Seriously now. I just finished rereading this myself this past weekend. I read this series 3 years ago, and didn't even need to refresh myself when I picked up Kushiel's Scion last summer. It's a truly excellent series that stays with you and I'm glad you enjoyed it.

I almost cried when Hyacinthe had to stay on the island.
