A Restless Knight – Deborah MacGillivray

Deborah MacGillivray, A Restless Knight

I have to say this book was a surprise and a joy to read. When I first started it, I expected your typical alpha knight story, but this was so much more. It was very mystical and I found myself reading very late into the night.

Julian, the Earl of Challon, known as the Black Dragon has been given land, Glenrogha, in Scotland by his king as a punishment. He is to secure the glen and wed the daughter, Tamlyn MacShane. The women of this fey area of Scotland have always had the choice to marry and Tamlyn is not about to abide by the king’s dictate, but comes to realize that Julian has been chosen by the Auld ones for her.

There are rich details about the ceremonies and beliefs of the people from this land that captivated and transformed this story into something more than ordinary. This is a story about a tired and broken warrior who is desperately looking for mental peace and Tamlyn is his only salvation.

Grade: A (a keeper)

Cover: I have to admit I think the guy on the cover is too clean and modern looking to really fit with my vision of Julian. This guy looks too much like a Chippendale for me.

  1. Hey – I happen to have 2 copies of this one. One of the few times I forgot I already had it and bought myself another copy. The price was just too hard to resist – twice! I’m glad to see you liked it! I shall have to move it up the ole TBR pile!

  2. Angie,

thank you for the kind word about Challon! I am so delighted you enjoyed it. And you should considering being an aspiring writer. Your review is very well constructed, with flowing prose.

    Kristie,
Sorry, you double bought, but then Challon does draw the eye!

    Ames,

Hope you give me a try!

The sequel, originally called Ravenhawke, will be out at the end of July 2007. However, last week they changed the title to In Her Bed. Sigh, sometimes poor writers don’t have too much say in the marketing angle of the works.

If you like Contemporary Paranormals, my second book, the first for Dorchester comes out next week, The Invasion of Falgannon Isle.

Again, I thank you all for your kind words.
