The Rest Falls Away – Colleen Gleason

Colleen Gleason, The Rest Falls Away

I have always loved finding new series to add to my list of favorites. I have been fortunate to have an opportunity to read a new upcoming one by Colleen Gleason. Due out in January 2007, The Gardella Vampire Chronicles is described as a 19 Century Buffy the Vampire Slayer. I am not sure that description gives the series enough justice as it is more than just a Buffy fanfic.

Victoria Gardella has just come out of mourning for her grandfather and father and is now looking for a husband as most young girls of the time do. However Victoria soon learns that she is part of a family line of vampire slayers (venators). She must choose how to balance her life as a debaunte and hunter.

There are three very different men involved in this series. The first is fellow venator Max who is brooding, dark and clashes instantly with Victoria (my fav). The second is Lord Rockley who has no idea what Victoria is, but has an incredible charm all his own. The third is Sebastin who is mysterious and sexy and is somehow involved with the vampires that Victoria is hunting.

This was a great introduction to the main characters as well as a host of colorful secondary characters. I can’t wait to see how Victoria develops from a young girl into what I hope will be a kick ass character/series.

I love the cover.
