Vamps and the City-Kerrelyn Sparks

I think I might be the only person on earth who hates reality tv. I could never get into it. With that admission it is with an open mind that I review this novel. I had previous read How to Marry a Millionaire Vampire and was looking forward to more.

Darcy Newhart is tired of being taken care of in a haraam of various aged vampire women and strikes out to create a reality tv series pitting vampire men against mortal men to find the sexist man on earth. Austin Erickson is a vampire slayer trying to infiltrate DVN tv to collect information.

Many of the exchanges were funny, but I felt the attraction between Darcy and Austin fell flat for me. Maybe it was the whole reality tv thing. I am going to give it a C+ for creativity.

I still look forward to any future novels she will have because I think she holds great potential for light, fun vampire novels. It appears her next novel will be Be Still My Vampire Heart due out in April 2006. It is already on my wishlist.

Cover: Love the cover.

  1. I couldn’t get into this either, and ended up abandoning it maybe 6 chapters in. I can’t remember how far I got anymore. I also had read HTMAMV and while I thought that was cute, I don’t think I’ll be reading anything else by Ms. Sparks.
