I was in the mood for a good action book so I plucked this from my to be read list.
Bureau of American Defense (BAD) is shadow agency responsible for counter-terrorism in the US. Sydney Westbrook (who annoyingly was repeatedly referred to as an Angelina Jolie look alike) is looking for a new partner to help take down a target. J.D. Steele is a sniper in prison for shooting at his commanding officer and is perfect for her job. She proceeds to recruit him. She is known as a literal ball buster and frigid, and he is a major attitude problem, but she warms up quickly to Steele.

What an horribly bad cover. I wonder if the artist/publisher was afraid that we just might miss the topic of the book so they decided to make it glaringly clear incase we don’t get the obvious.
Dear publisher, I get that this is a gay regency romance but the bulge down the shirtless guys pants is just plain scary. Thankfully this man is gay because what women would not run screaming from Mr. Monster Ball guy. A phallic shape portray an aroused male, a cantaloupe suggests ball cancer.
I choose this title for AngieW’s July TBR Challenge.
Title: Slow Burn
Author: Julie Garwood
Year published: 2005
Why did you get this book?
I have always been a fan of Julie Garwood. The Bride and the Wedding have been on my keeper shelf for longer than I can remember. Recently I started reading her suspense novels and have enjoyed them. I have a quite a few sitting on my TBR pile. Slow Burn has a decent size wish list so I thought I would read it and pass along before some of the others.
This is a quick, fun summer read that I enjoyed. Samantha Monroe has been struggling to keep her life together after her husband gets her pregnant (for the 3rd time), declares he is gay and sneaks out of town. Working 12 hours days as a hairdresser is not paying her bills.
Jack Tolliver has decided to run for office and he needs to get rid of his playboy “Kennedy” image. Protestingly, at the suggestion of his employee he makes a proposition to Sam that she can’t refuse.

I had been in the mood for a good american historical and picked this one up. Miller is a favorite of mine as I have One Wish and Springwater on my keeper shelf.
Ranger Sam O’Ballivan is sent to Haven Arizona to track down a gang that has committed several area robberies. He is under cover as the new school master. Maddie Chancelor is operating the local store and immediately falls for Sam.
The more I read romance, the more I realize that us parents can really screw up our kids. Josie Adkins is a very smart girl who is working her residency as a orthopedic surgeon. Her father wanted her to be a surgeon and since he died when Josie was young she is working very very hard to fulfil that. Dr. Houston Hayes is your typical focused, professional perfectionist who has worked all his life on maintain control. He is a top notch surgeon who is now Josies boss. Houston’s dad left his family when Houston was young hence the “need” to remain detached and controlled in his life.
Jonah has decided to shake up his brooding friend Gabriel by bringing their assistant Denny (Denise) Abbott to him as a birthday present. Gabriel has been secretly lusting after Denny for a long time and the feeling is definately mutual. Jonah shakes up Gabriel with his “present” and things between the three will never be the same.
This Ellora’s Cave book is primarily a detailed accounting of a nonstop one night sexfest between two male friends and an assistant in their office. There were some other slight plot items interspersed throughout the book but I mainly skipped over them as they were very short and could not be developed properly.
I think I might be the only person on earth who hates reality tv. I could never get into it. With that admission it is with an open mind that I review this novel. I had previous read How to Marry a Millionaire Vampire and was looking forward to more.
Darcy Newhart is tired of being taken care of in a haraam of various aged vampire women and strikes out to create a reality tv series pitting vampire men against mortal men to find the sexist man on earth. Austin Erickson is a vampire slayer trying to infiltrate DVN tv to collect information.
