Bright Eyes-Catherine Anderson

  • Posted on June 28, 2006 at 1:35 pm

Another Anderson book in the Coulter series. This one is about Zeke Coulter. Zeke has moved next door to the Patterson family and they first meet when Natalies son Chad destroys some of his property. Zeke insists that Chad work for him to pay for the damage.

There is a very light murder mystery plot but overall I would say there was not a lot of depth to this one. I love Anderson’s novels, but this will not be a favorite.

Grade: C

Cover. Bright and cheery, I am not afraid to take this out in public.

Sweet Nothings-Catherine Anderson

Part of the Coulter family series featuring Jake Coulter. Jake is known for his ability to work with troubled horses. Molly has stolen a horse from her manipulative ex-husband to try and save it. Jake knows right away that Molly is in trouble and against his better judgement he risks his business and his heart by helping her.

Sweet best describes this book and move of Anderson’s books. When I am in the mood for a light romance read I will pick up her books. I enjoyed this one.

Grade: B

Cover: flowerly and fit the mood of the book.

Wildcat Arrows – Dara Joy (Did you get yours yet?)

  • Posted on June 26, 2006 at 12:28 am

I currently have 4 Dara Joy books on my keeper shelf. The Matrix of Destiny series was a long time favorite. It was with great excitement that I ordered Dara’s self published Wildcat Arrows book last year when it was announced. I forked over the $20.80 even with the freaked out cover. I loved Dara and expected no less from this book – even with the freaked out cover.

Lover Eternal – J.R. Ward

Second in the series and even better than the previous one Dark Lover.

Rhage has been cursed with a dragon like beast that immerges when he loses control of his temper/emotions.

Mary Luce is a human with a chronic disease, who manages to enthrall Rhage with her voice. Against all odds he persues her.

I looved this book. The characters are great without being overly hard to keep track of. Many of the other vampire series are getting too complicated for my poor overworked brain to handle.

I so want my own dragon to pet.

Dark Lover – J.R. Ward

I cannot believe I left this book sit on my TBR pile for over a freaking month. OMG I was so missing out.

The first in a series called The Black Dagger Brotherhood. Dark Lover was about. Wrath is the last pure vampire on earth. He hates humans and refuses to help one of his brothers take care of his abandoned half breed daughter.

Beth Randall is approaching her 25th birthday and she has been feeling weird. She is unaware of what she is and is about to meet the most lucious and scary man she has ever seen.

Dark Side of the Moon-Sherrilyn Kenyon

  • Posted on June 15, 2006 at 6:45 pm

I am in love the Dark Hunter series and make sure I get a copy as soon as humanly possible. I received this one two days ago and immediately moved it to the top of my to be read pile. I just finished it and I am feeling very sad. I have to admit that though this was a good book, it just didn’t strike me as being from the same author. Did some Diamon steal Kenyon’s soul leaving her to write a good but not great novel? If I had to describe this novel I would say it lacks soul.

Hot Ice-Cherry Adair

Having just finished On Thin Ice I was concerned that this one would be a disappointment too, but it is not.

Taylor Kincaid is a top notch jewel theif, Huntingdon St. John is a T-FLAC operative who needs the best there is to optain an important object. After spending 1000′s of man hours to find Kincaid, Hunt is of course highly attracked to Taylor.

On Thin Ice-Cherry Adair

Another Wright brothers novel. Derek has had a thing for Lily Munroe since she married his scumbag of a so called friend Sean. Sean has passed away from terminal cancer and Derek has set out to win Lily. During the way two different plots are thrown into their path.

I think I am getting tired of the I love you more than I can handle, and I know you are going to hurt me heroines. Yada, yada yada. There were some interesting action which kept me from getting totally annoyed with the book, but it is not as good as some of the earlier Wright books.

Undead and Unreturnable-Mary Janice Davidson

  • Posted on June 8, 2006 at 2:13 pm

Or better titled: Undead and Unremarkable. I have to say I love the quips and dialogue in this book. There are some extremely funny comments which almost made the book worth reading, but sadly there was no real story or plot developement. I got the end of the very short (250 pages) book and cannot really figure out what I read about. Even the 250 pages is deceptive because there are 42 chapters. Add a bunch of empty space at the beginning and end of each chapter and you basically have a book with funny lines about nothing. Save your money and wait for paperback. This is a serial sized book for a hardback price.

Definitely Dead-Charlaine Harris

The latest in the Sookie Stackhouse vampire dective series. Returning with the cast of wonderful secondary characters Sookie is called upon to go to New Orleans to clean up her deceased cousin, Hadley’s, apartment. Yet someone does not want her to.

I get the feeling that I must have missed a book because I don’t remember “cousin Hadley” and this story reads as though I should know about her. I will have to go through the back list and referesh my memory and pick up the missing one if that is the case.
