Nikta Stover is an FBI agent sent to investigate a missing time capsule that was buried in 1985. Knox Davis is the lead investigator and home town boy in Peke County, Kentucky who suspects that Nikta is not who she says she is. These two become deeply involved in the case when Nikta is shot at during the investigation. Why is someone trying to kill her, why are participants in the capsule’s burial being killed?
I love a great comedic romance. Rachel Gibson never fails to deliver a a great one. Lucy is a murder mystery writer who is researching internet dating for her next book. Quinn is an undercover cop who is hunting for an internet dating, serial killing, woman.
Lucy and Quinn both meet up at a coffee shop when they run across each other online. Each has altered their profiles so that assume different jobs/lives. They lies and deception quickly come apart when the murderer strikes again and both Lucy and Quinn are involved in the investigation.
One of my favorite bands is Pearl Jam. When they released their version of the Last Kiss in 1999 (wow was it that long ago) I purchased the “No Boundaries, A Benefit for the Kosovo Refugees” CD for that song alone.
Marilyn Smith-Porter (a new author for me) has written her fictitious version of events leading up to and ending a few years after the lyrics in Last Kiss. This is a wonderful story with all the anguish of lost love and lost innocence.
Lucien LeDuex (the older brother) has been told all his life that he was good for nothing by his father and scorned as a kid because he came from the wrong side of the tracks. As a teenager he had a thing for Sylvie Fontaine who was an uptown rich girl. Sylvie was extremely shy and rebuffed his attention. Being a typical young boy he made her life misrable by constantly teasing her.
I have not logged a book in ages because of my schedule. I would like to get back to journaling my books so I am going to work on brief reviews of what I have read.
I have just finished Warprize by Elizabeth Vaughan. I have not read her before and cannot remember who recommended this book to me but I really loved it. I really enjoy “warlord alpha males” and spunky women who don’t put up with their crap.
